Indications: Permanent Hair Reduction - Excessive hair growth, ingrown hairs (Pseudofolliculitis barbae) or cosmetic concerns.

Devices:  SHR Pro Harmony, In-Motion (virtually pain-free) and Stationary.
Frequency:  4-8 treatments. Timing between laser treatments is dependent on growth cycles for the various body parts.

Face: 4-6 weeks
Underarms/Legs/Arms/Pubic: 6-8 weeks

Client Instructions Prior to Appointment:

  1. No waxing, plucking or threading 6 weeks prior to treatment.
  2. Avoid direct sun for 1-3 weeks prior to treatment, including tanning beds.
  3. Shave the area the night before your treatment to avoid irritation. If unshaven, a $25 shaving fee will be applied.
  4. Be aware of any medications, skin conditions or products that you are currently using that may affect your skin or photosensitivity to light.
  5. Make your appointment for a day where you will not have to work out or be exposed to high heat temperature (hot tub etc.).

What Clients Should Expect:

  • In most cases, laser hair reduction services are very easily tolerated with minimal sensation and downtime. First 48 hours--may have some redness and hotness to the skin, warm to the touch and possibly a slight sunburn feeling. There may be slight swelling of the follicle for 1-4 hours after treatment. Aloe and and an ice pack, if necessary will help soothe the skin.
  • It will take 2 - 2.5 weeks before the hair is actually shed. Until that time it may appear as if it is still growing as the follicle is pushed to the surface and eventually falls out.
  • Clients should notice a 20-30% decrease in surface hair per treatment. If this percentage is not seen by session 3, extend or decrease appointment interval by one week.

Possible Side Effects:

  • Temporary mild discomfort from treatment, may feel warmth or tingling for 24 hours after.
  • Temporary swelling or redness in area--can be treated easily with use of ice and aloe.
  • Clients with history of severe hyperpigmentation and melisma should be treated with caution.
  • Hypopigmentation and scarring have occasionally been reported as side effects of laser services. Those with a history should be cautiously treated. Newity Laser always uses safety precautions to prevent this occurring and proper post care will assist in the prevention of fallout.
  • Slight swelling of the follicle is a clinical endpoint to laser hair removal and should disappear over 1-4 hours.
  • All patient concerns, side effects and complications should be addressed and documented.

Please review carefully.

♥ Post Treatment Care — Hair Reduction

  1. Aerobic exercise and excessive sweating should be avoided for 24 hours.

  2. Do not pick, scratch, rub or cause excessive friction to the treatment area.

  3. Hot baths are not advised for 24 hours (quick showers are recommended).

  4. If the skin is broken or a blister appears ice the area and notify the clinic.

  5. Cold packs, aloe vera gel or any other cooling preparation may be used to ease a temporary discomfort.

  6. Excessive sun exposure is to be avoided for at least 1-3 weeks before and after treatment. Sun block should be applied to protect the skin. If further treatments are required, a commitment to stay out of the sun is necessary to avoid minor complications that may occur.

  7. Makeup can be applied as long as the skin is not ruptured. Avoid rubbing the skin during removal and pat dry.

  8. Mild redness, tenderness, warmth and temporary swelling of the follicle are normal reactions and may last for 24-48 hours after the treatments. Treat your skin gently to avoid complications.

  9. If there is a tendency to experience ingrown hairs, exfoliate the skin at the 2 and 6 week mark to assist in the shedding of already treated follicle.

  10. Post treatment, shedding of the hair treated will occur at 2-2 1/2 weeks. There will be a delayed growth until the new cycle of hair regrows either at the 4 or 6 week mark.

  11. The number of sessions required vary between each individual depending of hair candidacy, density and consistency of appointments. Keeping appointments within the specified time frames are critical to the long-term success of the treatment.

    Face 4-6 weeks

    Body 6-8 weeks
