Definition:  Microdermabrasion is a non-invasive and effective form of exfoliation using a diamond tipped applicator with slight suction to remove dead and damaged superficial skin cells. Safe for all skin types with little to no downtime or discomfort.

Devices:  Professional Series Nova Diamond Microdermabrasion

Frequency:  Treatments can be performed every 3-4 weeks in a series of up to 6 sessions.

If client is receiving Microdermabrasion in conjunction with Photofacials there should be a resting time of two-three weeks between treatments.

Client Instructions Prior to Appointment:

  1. Prep skin for treatments--avoid heavy exfoliation, products etc. Gently cleanse skin the night before and use a light moisturizer and sunscreen.
  2. Be aware of any medications, skin conditions or products that you are currently using that may affect your skin’s sensitivity levels.

What Should Clients Expect:

  • Immediately after treatment, client may have some redness and hotness to the skin, warm to the touch and possibly a slight windburn feeling. Should be pink in color lasting 1-4 hours.
  • Aloe and an ice pack will help soothe the patient’s skin if necessary.
  • Dramatic results are best seen in a series of treatments. A one-time treatment will be similar to a deep cleaning or polishing of the skin.
  • For clients with combination-oily skin: you may experience a slight acne flare-up following treatment. For severe acne conditions, this treatment is not recommended.

After Care Instructions (for two weeks following treatment):

  • No waxing or chemical hair removal.
